Eritrean and Egyptian Officials Hold High-Level Talks in Cairo
The Head of Economic Affairs of the PFDJ, Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwot, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Nasreddin Saleh, held a meeting in the city of Cairo with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Badr Abdel Ati, and the Egyptian Minister of Investment, Mr. Mohamed Farid.
The Head of Economic Affairs of the PFDJ, Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwot, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Nasreddin Saleh, held a meeting in the city of Cairo with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Badr Abdel Ati, and the Egyptian Minister of Investment, Mr. Mohamed Farid.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati highlighted the strong strategic partnership with Eritrea and Egypt’s commitment to boosting cooperation in economy, investment, trade, industry, and development. He reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Eritrea’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and expressed readiness to provide technical support while encouraging Egyptian private sector participation in Eritrea.
Minister of Investment Dr. Mohamed Farid stressed the importance of deepening trade and investment ties, leveraging the Eritrean market’s opportunities, and utilizing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to increase exports.
Both sides discussed regional issues, especially Sudan. They agreed on preserving Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, supporting its national institutions, rejecting parallel entities, and backing a purely Sudanese-owned political process to resolve the conflict.
They also affirmed that the security and governance of the Red Sea are the exclusive responsibility of the neighboring countries.
