World Laboratory Day observed at national level
Asmara,World Laboratory Day was observed at the national level in Asmara on 23 April.
The objective of the observance was to honor the crucial roles laboratories and laboratory professionals play in scientific discovery, public health, and industrial innovation, as well as to recognize the expertise of scientists and technicians.

Dr. Efrem Gebremeskel, Director of Animal Health at the National Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, noting the role of laboratories in national development and public health, said that a number of laboratories have been established across the country to support national goals, realize economic development and public health, and ensure environmental protection and natural resources management. He also called for integrated efforts among ministries that need laboratory services, as well as for sharing experiences and complementing one another.
At the event, research papers were presented by experts from the Ministries of Agriculture; Health; Land, Water and Environment; as well as the National Medicines and Food Administration, focusing on activities they are conducting related to laboratories.
The participants conducted extensive discussions on the research papers presented and adopted various recommendations, including enhancing the role of laboratories in the provision of quality products, introducing integrated activities, putting in place adequate facilities, producing qualified experts, and ensuring that the establishment of laboratories takes into account the health of experts, among others.
