New Airline Operator, Massawa Airways, Takes Delivery of Aircrafts
Eritrea’s third start-up airline operator, Massawa Airways (Massawa International , MSW) recently took delivery of its first two Beech 1900Ds, N46Ar (c/n UE27) aircrafts to join its existing MA-60 and E3- AAV aircrafts that were delivered in early December last year.
The Chinese manufactured MA60 (TBD10 | E3-AAV) aircraft were handed over to Massawa Airways at a ceremony held in Xian, China, AVIC Xi’an Aircraft International Corporation (XAIC) last year.
To date, the MA series aircraft has been ordered by customers from 15 countries, with Africa’s clients consisting of Air Zimbabwe, Air Burundi, Trans Air Congo and Camair-Co.
The two Beechcraft together with MA-60 and E3-AAV will deploy mainly to control domestic flight in the country and in some extent regional operations.
Based in the Red Sea port city of Massawa, this new airline operator would be the country’s third scheduled airline after Eritrean Airlines (B8, Asmara Yohannes IV (ASM)) and NasAir (Eritrea) (UE, Asmara Yohannes IV (ASM)).
